I just put my new exhaust on this weekend and I put on a 2.5 I and over the axle pipe into a magnaflow muffler and duals out the back. I left my buddies shop and went to autozone to return a couple of clamps and hangers and when I left and the engine was pretty much wrmed up It started to rattle a little right underneth me. I and guessing at the heat shield. I have a clam there clamping the s pipe to the I. I made sure thought to point the bolts toward the top of the car. Waht do you think. should I just weld it. I want some suggestions of the problem before I get under there to try to solve it. It is kind of weird that it didn't happen the first 15 min of me driving. It just happened after the car was warmed up.

Re: Exhaust Rattle
you should weld it but they probably just need to be tightened. you are suppose to go through some steps when you install a system with clamps so they stay tight. read the instructions

Re: Exhaust Rattle
If I have any kind of rattle on the exhaust system, I do it the old fashioned way by laying under the car and tapping the system with a rubber mallet. If your system only makes noises when it's hot, just perform this task and be careful not to burn yourself when laying under it. You'll find out exactly where the noise is coming from.sigpic

Re: Exhaust Rattle
Yeah I feel like a compete idiot. so I jack up my car and get under it and take the shield (that is under the pipe and driveshaft) off. That is what the exhaust was rattling against. So I start looking at the shield and realize that I had it on backwards, not upsidedown but backwards. I had the indent that was supposed to go under the torque arm, under the exhaust pipe and it was hitting bad. So I turned it around and drove around for about 15min and didn't hear another rattle. Fixed!!!
