Well this guys running rich but cant identify the smell, just a bad smell? No its cause this guy has something else going on. Here if hes running rich he should have fouled plugs and if hes this rich backfire. He is not describing whats going on here right.
Changing the fuel pressure reg would be cheaper then taking it in to have someone read it just FYI
the best i can desribe the smell is like i started the car in the garage and left it running and then went out there its that strong in an open space its seeps into the car when im sitting at stop signs or red lights. i even had a car on the highway get out from behind me last night im guessign because of this...im not exactly sure how to explain it but about 5x stronger than a reg. car or even worse..but i smell like it everytime i get out of the car it sucks.. ok what all do i need to check the fuel pressue and how do i check it?
in the top of the intake the is a valve that looks kinda like a valve stem on you wheels remove the cap and screw on the gauge then start the car harbor frieght has pressure gauges for 15 bucks there not the most accurate but it will give you a ball park figure as long as you have at least 40psi running(your pump is fine) then turn the key off and see how fast it drops if it goes to zero in less than 5 minutes(or close to it you have an injector leaking which could be why your running rich, could the smell be burning oil do you have any leaks like valve covers
