  • dynomax super turbo sound clip?

Hello all, looks like it's time for post #3! I have searched, and maybe I've just overlooked it so if I have I'm sorry. I own a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro RS, 3.8 auto. It's all stock at the moment but I'm hoping to start getting the basics done by next summer. So I'm wondering if anybody out there has a sound clip of the dynomax super turbo, besides v4gasm's idle clip? It sounds great in his sound clip, I'm just curious as to how it sounds at cruising speeds. I'm getting a new muffler (not the entire cat-back, yet) for Christmas from some of my family and I'm just shooting for a nice, clean tone, w/o a lot of interior drone (I commute 30 miles to college and back every day on I 75, averaging about 2k rpms.) I've also been considering the almighty 80 series flowmaster, but I've read that it's pretty loud inside the car... any help is appretiated. I really hope this isn't another repost.

I would definately go with the Flowmaster 80 series, it sounds great. It can be a little loud at times, but that's why they make dyna-mat (can get expensive) or you can go the cheap route and go to Home Depot and get some Peel and Seal, works just as good and is a great sound deadener.

Also, the Magnaflow catback sounds great, isn't as loud as the flowmaster, but does give you more hp. So, you may also want to look into the Magnaflow before purchasing a full cat-back exhaust system.

thanks, I was actually kind of considering doing the 80 series and trying some sound deadener... I just wasn't sure how it would work out. They do sound really nice outside the car though, thanks for the input!

^ I definately agree. I hated my flowmaster and put on a dynomax. Love the sound and power increase over the flowmaster.

I need a new muffler for my 96 3.8. Would this bolt up to the stock location?

thanks guys, I'm actually leaning more towards the dynomax myself, I did get the tips ordered today (chrome Z 28 style) so that's one more step towards getting this done. I appretiate all of the input so far.

From the sound, I'd go with the Dynomax. I personally have a Magnaflow and LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it! When just cruising around, you can hear it, but it's not stupid loud. But when you punch it, it wakes up and roars!

Hey that sound clip does sound great, thank you! However, I've already got a dynomax super turbo ordered, along with the chrome z28 style tips so when I get everything hooked up I'll try to get a sound clip for everybody. Oh, and lookout4theyeti, I'm halfway through my sophomore year at EKU.
