well i have the dual exhaust but it's not like yours? it's got dual outlits like two outlits per exhaust tip and their shinny, kinda like the bora, but it's not as loud, and that makes me wonder if it's either the y87 or just duald out? some other way
2 sets of 2 pipes together is definitely aftermarket, either tips or more stuff. GM never made it that way.
The person i bought my car from didnt even know what the Y87 package was, i had to check if it had it, but i didnt tell him it did ;) because then it woulda been worth more.

just curious, is Auburn Limited Slip Differential (G80)[offered in 98-later) better than Zexel-Torsen T-2 Limited Slip Differential (G80) [offered in pre-98]? what's the difference between the two?

The same thing happen to me; I bought my 99 from the father of the owner; he had no idea what was in it; I just found out this friday it had the Y87 package; I am lucky I was going to spend lots of money to get an LSD rear end. I guess 9,000 was a good price for a 99 with only 21,000 miles on it, and with the Y87; Not I just want a turbo
The guy i bought mine from had a rich gf, great job and just bought a new $60k Audi. Wanted $7300 and i got it for $5700. :)

Wrong, it is the other way around. Auburn was used 93-97, ZT 98+.
I'm also curious about the Y87 package. I pick up a black 2000 Y87 Firebird in April. Unfortunately my son totaled it in Sept. A week later I picked another black 2000 Firebird. The newest one has every thing the Y87 had except, dual exhaust, ground effects and has taller springs. The new one also has leather wrapped steering wheele and E-brake, Monsoon Sound System, electric seats and 8000 miles less. Luckly my son was ok and his friend got 2 stiches. Not bad for rolling. Oh yes, I picked up the new one for a $1000.00 less than insurance paid off.
The question I have is about performance. I have added the American Thunder Catback but it still seems to have a little less performance than the Y87. Was it tuned differently?
gman2000,
You probably have 3.08 gears, instead of the 3.42 that all Automatic Y87 have. The 3.42 gears also come w/ a different, higher stall torque converter.
Check your build codes; GU6 = 3.42, GU4 = 3.08
