ok i thought this install was supposed to be easy... guess not.
i finally got the IAT sensor into the grommet after much cursing and struggling. time to put the complete setup in the lid, right? WRONG! the grommet now has absolutely no give, and even after i coated the grommet and the lid in oil, it still wont slide in... help me!!!
what i did was found a rubber band that's about a 1/4-inch wide, cut it, then super-glued it around the IAT sensor. Made a much better fit...I'll get a pic of it when I get my car back
thanks guys... yeah i just kept lubing it with oil, and pushing like hell and it finally went in! my hand hurts like hell, but hey, my car sounds better so it was worth it, thanks for all the advice.
I think we can all agree; that grommet should be resized so it can fit a little bit easier
When I did mine, the grommet was the toughest part of the job. I enlarged the hole in the lid's intake tube and put the grommet into the hole 1st and then greased the outside of the sensor and forced it into the hole. Whisper should furnish a new grommet that works better, considering how expensive the kit is.
BTW, I agree the sound is better with the lid, and it makes it easier to work on the front of the engine, but I don't think there was any real power gain.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
