is this Katback exhaust any good. The price ($399.99 from Pace Setter or $273.34 from http://www.ftpp.net/V6/Exhaust/v6_catback_systems.htm looks dec and it says the gains are 14% over stock. does anyone have this exhaust system, and does it sound good? i want flowmaster , but it is said to lose Hp, and i'll take all the all the Hp I can get!

Re: pace setter Exhaust
I'll tell you before it gets locked. Search. Look at the stickies in the general tech section there are sound clips to go by. There is plenty of discussion out there about these headers. Since they are about 1 of 2 made for our cars they are your best bet. Spend the extra $$$ and get the coated ones to reduce some of the heat.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

Re: pace setter Exhaust
Oh missed that sorry. I wouldn't go with a catback from them. There is a number of options out there besides them for that. Texas Speed has their catbackfor $225? and free shipping right now. As I said though go to the stickies and check out the sound clips because there are a ton of combinations available.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

Re: pace setter Exhaust
I think you should try it. I haven't heard of anyone running this exhaust on their V6 before and now I'm interested in how it performs and sounds. It's a pretty good price for a catback too.1998 M5 3.8 Mystic Teal Camaro<br />Flowmaster exhaust, Pacesetter headers, 3\" cat, 3\" S-pipe, whisper lid, ram air, Spec Stage 1 clutch, Poly Trans mount, Walbro 255LPH. DOn't tell him to be a guinea pig. What if it tottally sucks then he's going to be pissed because he's got to buy a new system. On the other hand ignore what I said it's cheap and if it works let us know. Post a clip in the sticky for reference.Let's flip a coin. Heads I get tail, Tails I get head.

Re: pace setter Exhaust
The one on Ftpp is a 3.4l exhaust you can tell by the part number.
The numbers are below i am not sure if they carry it or if they do if it will be the same price.
1998-02 3.8L / V6 86-2912
1995-97 3.8L / V6 86-2911
1993-94 3.4L / V6 86-2915
You can c that the one on FTPP is listed as PSE-86.2915 that matches the 3.4l. I pulled the numbers from http://www.pacesetterexhaust.com/camaro.htm
So you may want to ask FTPP if they carry the right one unless you have a 3.4l.
Also is it a 2.5" I pipe? i think it is . it depends on what you want to do with your car just a little HP and some cool sound 2.5 will work just fine but if you want the more performance? I would do a 3" exhaust with a S-Pipe. i am doing PSE headers, 3"cat, and 3" S pipe. when ever they all arive. ill have a riteup up soon.
If you drive it every day and like good gas mileage , and "do not" want a really loud car. Just a 2.5" will work fine. And if its built right "the way its hooked up " you can easly take it off for the track you just have to use clamps and/or flanges like the ones that come with borla kits and you can take off the I pipe and run open after the S-pipe or if you do the S-pipe and a 2.5" you can just put flanges on the Pipe right after the cat and dont weld the other end off the S-pipe the the I-pipe clamp it. you can just drop the S-pipe but that might require making hangers for right after the cat and the begining of the I-pipe.
So next time you ask what you think is a simple question it can get really complicated really quick it depends on what you have in the future of your car. like say you want a SC then 3" would most likely be better with the 3" S-pipe. even on stock headers and cat. but if you want a turbo i dont think most of the turbo guys have thier catbacks hooked up? so if turbo is in the future and if most of the turbo guys dont run the full exhaust wich some might but if not then expensive exhaust would be mostly a waist of money.
Correct me if i am wrong on the turbo guys not running the cat backs?

I say get it. I'd buy it myself, but i've been through so many exhausts my parents would probably disown me if i bought another
