  • Result of new CAI

Ok, so a week or so ago i tried to do a burnout, and i couldn't. I nearly cried. I know it has to do with the fact that my tires are tall and pretty dang wide (275/60/16), and maybe that i'm not a good driver? lol. I started the burnout, then it grabbed traction and buggered out.

Anyway, to redeem the smidgen of my dignity back, I tried for one today, with my new CAI installed. It impressed me. I broke em loose, thought i was gonna bog, then suddenly realized there was a bunch of smoke in front of my car. But ya, i just had to share that joy with ya'll. Now my tire mark (still one tire fire, looking for a diff rear end, no rush though) is noticably larger than it was with my stock wheels.

i dont think youre CAI had anything to do with it. and doing burnouts with 275's shouldnt be too tough. also, smoke should start from the BACK of your car.. not the front.. just be careful.

p.s. do you have an auto or manual?

I'm with dmw on this one: the effects of a CAI on a stationary car shouldn't be so pronounced as to make the difference between not being able to do a burnout and being able to do a burnout. My guess is that as soon as you got your CAI, you installed it on your car before going anywhere...right after you installed the CAI, you took it out and tried another burnout. If that's remotely true, the burnout was more caused by cold tires rather than the CAI

yea, prolly different weather too, maybe cooler.

cai = necessary, but rather unhelpful mod.

It's a manual. And no, the smoke wasn't coming from the front, it was blown there from the wind.

            Are they 275/60 or 275/40?
