I have a thought on how I want my exhaust to be, based on a previous car, but I am not sure if it will turn out the way I am expecting. I used to have a 92 Cavalier wagon, which had the 3.1v6. The engine was stock, going into a stock (2"?) exhaust with a highflow cat and a single flowmaster 50 series tucked right up underneath the bumper with no tailpipe. It was extremely loud and sound incredibly like a v8 (with barely any raspiness). (much more v8 like then my flowmaster 80 with bullet)
Do you think that I would get a similar sound on the camaro if I tucked a pair of 50s under the bumper with a tip on them to make 'em look proper? I am mainly wondering this as the engine is sitting in the proper direction now with some different twists and turns in the pipe layout. How much difference will that make in the sound?
Also, this may sound silly, but I seem to remember reading/hearing something about how a car/exhaust needs a minimum of 10" of pipe after the muffler to scavenage the gases and make the proper amound of power....is this some stupid nonsense or is there some truth in that statement?
