Re: Best setup with these goals in mind
^ i hate that rasp... :spank: ... sounds good at idle but it gets so raspy so quickly.
i believe it was somewhere in the range of 250-300 for that catback... cant remember the brand of cat off hand it was put on so many years ago... it might have actually been less for the catback i cant remember. i would go to edelbrock.com and look around for the exhaust... i dont remember if they make it for just the 8's or not... but a Z's exhaust is basically identical to the 3800's after you get past the cat. the ypipe and manifolds are obviously different to make up for the added cylinders as well as clearing the oil pan. but after the cat its the same. good luck on whatever you decide to do.
just for the record... i dont claim to have the best sounding car in the 3800 world... but i do greatly enjoy it with a good romping.
just as a minor suggestion, my muffler finally gave out shortly after the header install and while waiting for the new one to get install i noticed it pulled a bit harder than with the muffler... but thats not the point... it hit this tone that just about blew my mind, it was like i couldnt hear while between 2800 and 3500 rpms... it was glorious... i dont think i would mind getting a cut out right before the muffler i kinda liked it!
