So I heard about this neat little mod you can do to your car, so I got out and tried it today. Popped off the K&N air intake, and then proceeded to scrape out the O ring and screen with a flat head and some pliers. Put it back together and tried to crank it. Car just sputtered and the needles on all my guages went crazy. I was thinking "oh boy, i just killed my car."
So I proceed to put the screen and O ring back in, and try cranking again. Same thing. Now im thinking this really is bad. Then I realized something, why would the intake be affecting my engine cranking? So i whip out my handy Voltimeter and check my battery voltage. It's at 11.7V, which is pretty low. So I charge it up, and try it again and it works perfectly!
Once again, I take out the screen and o ring and take it for a spin. I notice immediately my exhaust sounds better, a deeper rumble (maybe it just could be that it was cold outside?), but the throttle seems to be a bit more responsive also. All in all, a fun experience, and I thought I'd share it with you guys as my first post.
Cheers!:wavey:
