What is the difference between A oem exhaust system and a aftermarket .. is there a difference in horsepower... ??

    Re: Difference?

ususally the piping is a larger diameter, allowing for better flow....resulting in some more horsepower.

there could be many differences, or there could be no difference. You have to narrow down "aftermarket"

most after market systems have mandrel bends which means better flow.

depends on if your talking about the complete exhaust or parts...you can replace parts (headers, cat, catback, muffler) or do them all

He did say "Exhaust System" so I'm assuming he means the entirity of it.
And yes, an aftermarket(doesn't matter what brand) complete exhaust system will produce more hp than a stock one.

Most people mean a catback when they say "Exhaust system" just so you know.

You still haven't specificed what you mean by "exhaust system". If you know what your car feels like and you go from a stock setup to full 3" exhaust, hi flow cat and headers. Yes you will feel a difference.

While your at it, specify what "horsepower talk" is...

Well actually every time I have answered one of your questions. The first post was to a link that explains pretty much everything you need to know about exhaust systems: ranging from headers all the way to mufflers.

My last post also answered your question. If you mean a complete aftermarket exhaust system, from headers to tips then yes you will notice a difference in performance and sound.

If you mean changing the muffler you may notice a slight difference in performance but more likely it will not be noticable.

If you mean getting a complete catback, depends on the catback you may notice a slight diffference and you may notice a nice little difference but once again the major noticable difference will be in the exhaust tone/loudness.

These are also dependant on how well you know the feel of your car.

Now if you actually bother to give more details on what exactly your asking it makes it much easier to give you a response, instead of cursing at someone who HAS answered your questions even though they are vague. No need to get defense on a message board.

As a recap, the more pieces of your exhaust system you replace to good aftermarket products the more effect you will be able to feel. Either way you will probably experience a fake increase because you want to feel an increase for your money. There are too many different performance companies and too many different parts that make up an "exhaust system" to be able to accurately answer your question without you being kind enough to elaborate on exactly what you mean.

Ie: Which pieces are you planning on replacing? Which company makes the pieces you have in mind? Do you want 2.25in, 2.5in, 2.75in or 3in piping?
