my muffler just took a crap on me 2 weeks ago, im pretty sure a baffle broke off inside it. long story short it sounds HORRIBLE and i need to fix this. i was thinking about putting a borla bullet muffler closer to my cat, then just dumping my exhaust at the axle. i love that clean no tips look! (probably the only one who does) does anyone have any experience with this sound? i figure that it would be either much deeper, or much more rice-tastic. id prefer the first one, so any input on this would be greatly appreciated

    Re: axle dump exhaust

I've never seen this on our cars before, but every other car/truck I have seen that setup on has sounded rice-tastic. Maybe if you get a different muffler that is deeper than a low/light rumble that Borla produces.

Before you do this, check your local Laws. Some States only allow Off Road Vehicles to have an exhaust like that.

Not trying to burst your bubble, but I don't want to see you get a ticket for it later on, or see a cop-hating post in the lounge.

Its going to rasp.... badly.... not sure I'd call a bullet a muffler either ;)

              Re: axle dump exhaust

              1) its going to sound raspy
              2) it will be annoying loud (and number 1)
              3) you wont have enough backpressure and therefore will be hurting your peformance, and you might have reversion

i dumped it b4 axle w/ a flowmaster on my old 307 V8 and it sounded awesome...on our cars...not so much

I have the Y87 dual outlet flowmaster with the tips hidden behind the gfx and dropping down, so you can't see the tips...your not the only one who likes the no-tips look
