  • i stuck a vacumm in my tail pipe

I keep hearing this chuck of something rolling around in the muffler so i tried to vacumm it out since i cant take it off without cutting it. Funny as it sounds but i have realized the my flowmaster muffler is totally rusted out. POS! only 2-3 years old and 25k on it.

i cant remeber where i bought it from. im a retard, thats a problem for me. Where did some of you buy your flowmaster catback system from?

Man, I don't know why people seem to hate flowmaster. I have even heard people say it robs horse power (Even though it actually frees up quite a bit of power). I've had mine on my camaro for over a year without a problem and on my 65 mustang for 5 years with no problem.

Stainless steel is still a ferrous metal which means a magnet will stick to it. Read the linky about stainless.

I'm not too fond of flowmaster's sound on the 3800 V6. It sounds nice and mean down low but when I get on it, it sounds like the car is entering ricer status :(

stainless steel is not a ferrous metal. it is an iron alloy. ferritic stainless steel is magnetic. 300 series stainless is austenitic, and is not magnetic.

oems like to use aluminized stainless, ss409, because it's the cheapest ss. 304 is good, 316 is better.

i had 304 ss ceramic coated headers...they still stain/rust...just not as easily as regular steel. road salt will still take its toll.

i'm surprised your muffler rusted from the inside out. it was probably only ss shell. for warranty info: http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/warranty.html

borla has a million mile warranty, and is the longest that i'm aware of.

Thanks for the reply, i think im screwed for the warrenty. but im still trying to get something to happen.

What sucks even more is that the whole muffler rattles when u start it up cold. TERRIBLE sound. Its concentrated on the interior of the driver side of the muffler. its like a 2 pieces of a baffle flap together and make a metal to metal rapid flap sound. i guess ill call rapid flap syndrom, lol. it lasts anywhere from 3-20 secs. then stops but leaves a minimum tone underneath the sound at idle of driving. basically it sounds bad.

anyone actually get a returned muff under warrenty or not?
