Right now, I've got a Magnaflow Cat-back, Moroso LT1 CAI, and a gutted cat. I need an O2 sim (should be getting one soon), and I thought maybe I'd like a cutout down there too. If I did get one, where should I put it? I was thinking right after the cat, but I'm not too sure. Would moving it back closer to the muffler help any (I'm sure it would create more backpressure then, but is it needed)? Also, what brand is good? Summit has one for $24.95, but I kinda wanted and electric one. Any cheap electric ones out there, or any way to make a manual an electric one for cheap? If I did get a manual one, how hard is it to get under the car and open it? I'm just mainly hoping it doesn't sound too horrible with it, and that I don't lose power from it. What do you guys think? I'm about to go check out the sound sticky for some links to hear them.

    Re: Cut-out Questions

Hey I just got a electric cutout from Quick time performance but cost me $214.00 including shipping, so isn't cheap. I haven't had it installed yet. I asked quicktime where best place to put it on at and got this response back from them. "We recommend to put the cutout on the intermediate pipe right before it goes over the axle. Right under the rear passenger seat." I am hoping to have it put on pretty soon.

I also need a 02 sim, just had a hi flow cat put on few weeks ago and after driving it about 100 miles my sensor light came on. Casper sim suppose to be good from what I hear. Well good luck whatever you do.

yea. i agree with what summit said. put it right before the over-axle pipe. and dont bother (in my opinion) with the electric cutout. its cool for a while, then it rattles and tears up the underside of your car, and the motor dies, etc etc. the manual ones are cheap as anything (as you have found out) and take about 30 seconds to take off or on especially in the position we are talking about. there is a perfect spot for it in our cars. you will GAIN horsepower and LOSE low end torque with a cutout, and it will make your car a lot louder and probably more raspy up higher in the RPM band. i have one, and i love it. best 30 bucks i spent on my car.

hmmm...... not too sure if I want to lose my torque though. What do you think it would do to my 1/4? I got 2.3 60's on my very first tun at the track. Since it was my first time, there's room for improvement, but I don't want to hurt my 1/4 time. Although, I do want to be able to make my car loud as hell :D

you will see about a tenth like fred said, and more likely 1mph faster. but your 60 wont be any better, thats for sure. cutouts tend to react differently in different cars for different setups though. only one way to really find out!

it will sound like ****...when I was putting on my muffler i ran to the store w/o anything...just straight pipe and it sounded bad and I noticed a decrease in power. I dunno maybe having a cutout in a different location would be better

if you ran with no muffler, just straight pipes, then yea. its definately going to sound bad. but i think he is talking about putting in the i-pipe like we talked about above.

                  Re: Cut-out Questions

I've ran with just straight headers and really liked the sound... it was extremely deep and hardly had any rasp... only thing I didnt like is that it shook my car so bad some change flew out of my cup holder... :naughty: does the cat muffle it much more than straight pipes...?... i looked in the sound clips but it's hard to tell...

                    Re: Cut-out Questions

well, I don't think I'm gonna get one. My friend (who knows alot about these cars) said it'll kill my lowend miserably and that I'll hate it.

I have a cutout and my low-end is far from dead...and even so, you could just close it

when i had mine on at first it felt A LOT slower but after about a week or so of driving it it almost seemed like the computer adjusted itself or something because it began to feel quicker than iit was i dunno if it makes any sence but thats what i noticed.
