MAF screen removal

I removed the MAF screen feeling more power and less restriction, and as for the question of is it safe I would say it is, the only thing that it could hurt is if something gets in the throttle body, but if something gets through the airfilter then that srceen isn't going to stop it so if its on or off u can still suck stuff in!!!!!!!

I didnt think removing it even made a differance in power you can feel..we did it to our mustang gt and explorer and noticed nothing....maybe you are thinking there is more power in your head cause its not good for enough you can feel...well not that i know of

I've done this free mod. I will def. not recommend this mod. I want to take it back.

I did this to my car. It depends on the year of the car. Some cars run like crap w/o the screen.

that screen only starts noticably restricting the airflow into your engine at higher horsepower #'s (around 5-600 hp, someone correct me if im wrong). removing it only makes your engine vulnerable to larger debris. ive never heard of dyno proven numbers saying it helps, ive only heard people wanting to put the screen back in.

mine doesnt run bad at all by the way its a 2000. But I took mine out after I got new lid, fliter, and SLP CAI (ram air scoop) so there is no turbulence before it hits the sensor. As long as you keep your fliter clean and not over recharge it I think it'll be fine.

Well i pretty ******* sure i gained since im gettin more air flow which in turn more fuel, and for the guy with the mustang Gt thats cuz its a mustang!!

I was gonna take mine out today, but I couldn't get it out. I tried to pry it out, but was afraid I was gonna break it, and didn't want to just in case it made my car run horribly. Any tips to getting it out?

i bet you guestimated that the total area of the screen blocks about 1/3 of your intake, so with it out you must be getting 1/3 more air? Sorry, but the way air flows is not that simple. All you have accomplished is tricking yourself into believing you've gained something that is not there.

Don't take it out. It's in there for a reason and any minor restriction it has is not going to effect our cars or very many cars for that matter. It's a friggin placebo.

there this is a snap ring u need to take out and then use a flat head screw driver or pocket knive to pri it out,just b careful.

a good friend of mine is a pro mech. so ill take advice from im and he said it was restricting, quiet a bit of air!

Why remove the screen? It makes no difference to performance, and helps protect the MAF sensor. Hell, why not just run your car without an airfilter, I bet that would net some gains.
