  • How far can a stock catback go?

How much horsepower can the L36 make until the catback needs to be replaced? Is it restrictive or not?

On a GTP, an aftermarket catback does nothing for performance until you reach mid 12s/300 hp.

Mods work together, therefore, any other mods you do will suffer greatly if you try to get the engine to use a 2.25" pipe

      right.....

I'm sure a catback would add a few ponies.

Dont beleive me? Go make a post on clubgp. Everyone will agree with the above statement. The stock mufflers flow well for mids 12s. The piping is 2.25" as well.

GTP's are blown, so basically nothing about their cars applies to ours. On a weak NA motor, mods really depend on eachother to get the most out of it

The same thing applies to GTs. Its not a na vs power adder deal. They have the same exhausts. My potential project will be blown.

If you're gonna spend the money for a power adder... I'd definitely make the investment worthwhile and invest in a new catback
Rebuilding the engine... Building a custom front end... T-top conversion... Custom rear hatch..
              Custom interior...

so you're gonna spend thousands of dollars on a supercharger setup, but you're gonna skimp on the exhaust?

                  Under a thousand, not thousands:naughty:

I dont want to have the car loud. I would prefer it to be as quiet at possible.

He's not asking for criticism. He's asking how far the exhaust could be taken. Like he said with GTP's, they become restrictive when entering into the 12's and is not worth upgrading to 3" because of the added weight. Just dropping the catback ftw. I think he's looking more for numbers like I just gave

That sounds like a lot... they weren't attempting to sell Flowmasters were they? ;)
