  • Got my exhaust...

I got my catback (3" mandrel bent pipe to flowmaster 80 series) put in yesterday. It sounds great and the chrome slash tips look great. I'm pretty excited about it.

    That is all

I saw that one coming. I'll set up my camera tomorrow and get a clip of it.

Yay, exhaust video. Where'd you get your catback from anyways, and how much did it cost ya? That's the American Thunder kit right?

Edit: Oh yeah, did the tips come with the kit?..... And make sure you rev the car up to redline and let it idle back down, nobody ever does that in their exhaust clips, and that's where all the rasp is. I wanna know if I'm gonna have to deal with that, but nobody ever tapes it.

I got it from a little shop out here called thunderbird muffler shop. It's not the american thunder kit but it's basically the same thing... i guess. It's 3" mandrel bent pipe to the 80 series, then out 2 chrome tips. All together it was $400 installed.

Theres also a rev limiter too...

And besides, when your in Drive and the car is under load there will be MUCH less rasp than when its in neutral. Even the stock exhaust will rasp in neutral

Yeah, there's a rev limiter... it's around 4500 or something when the car is in neutral. And yeah, I know that there's less rasp when the car is under load. And yeah, I know the stock exhaust gets raspy in neutral.

I still would like to know what this setup sounds like on a free spinning rev. Anybody ever been at a stoplight and had a Civic revving at ya? If I ever took a notion to rev back, I'd like it to sound better than the stock rasp, which is why I made that request.

Either way its gonna sound better than the civic... If i rev mine up to about 3k in neutral, it gets very loud with minimal rasp. Anything over that i dont like. However in drive i dont really get rasp anywhere in the powerband. 3" hiflow cat, 3" pipe all the way to 80 series muffler and tips.

Thanks, I like this kind of feedback. Most people don't share it, and it makes me wonder if they're just not satisfied with the car in the upper RPM ranges. And sorry if my post seemed a bit rude, lookin at it now, I looked like a jerk. Oh well, enough thread hijacking.

ya, i think it's 6500 in neutral. Sounds really "poppy"??? then.

6500? that would almost defeat the purpose of having a limiter... its lower than that

I haven't noticed any popping. But then again, I have an auto trans, so I'm not paying that much attention to shifting.

I'm gonna try and get a vid tomorrow. I'd go do it right now but I'm on a military base and I'd probably get a ticket from base police... I've seen it happen.
