Me and a bunch of my friends from work had a going-away lunch for one of our guys. When we left, I pulled up to a light and one my friends pulled up next to me, and another behind me. The guy next to me was in a chevy HHR, and started revving his engine, so naturally, I did it right back. Fortunately, I have my flowmasters now so I have something to show off:banana: anyway, the light turned green and we took off. The guy behind me called a couple minutes later and said either smoke, or moisture, or something was coming out of my exhaust when I launched. Does this happen to anyone else? I mean, it's understandable if it does happen when I'm racing it but I also want to make sure that something's not about to break on me.

    Re: Smoke

ususally any smoke out of the tail pipes, when the temperature is not freezing is a cause for concern

sometimes from just starting the car its ok....but to be sitting at a light, i would be nervous

          Re: Smoke

its probably just cold out side which makes for more visible exhaust
do you know the color of the smoke? was it thick?

how cold was it and what color? if it white and was 40 or below, i wouldn't worry about it.

i know i didn't roast my tires, i had my traction control on. Anyway, my friend said it was a white smoke, and it was about 50-55 degrees outside. He said it wasn't much, and it was only when I first took off. But hearing that still got me nervous.

                    Re: Smoke

at that temp and especially going WOT, I wouldn't sweat it. you can worry and check your coolant level for two weeks straight though :D

NEGATIVE! :spank: :spank: :spank: <--- I love that :naughty:
Black smoke just means rich which is fine

                      What IS BAD:
Blue smoke means you have an internal oil leak. (bad piston rings, bad valves, etc..)
THICK white smoke means coolant is leaking into the cylinder (blown head gasket, cracked block/heads, etc....)

yea, a bad head gasket would make your car look like it has a fog machine strapped to the back of it....

                          Re: Smoke

OK so it turns out it was nothing. I had my buddy get in my car and rev the engine and it was just a little puff of smoke, like when you first start your car in mildly cold weather. It wasn't billowing smoke or anything like that so I'm pretty sure my car is fine.
