I have a 96 3.8, and I am going install my pacesetter headers and 3" inlet/outlet catco cat soon (hopefully next weekend) and I already have a flowmaster 80 series 2.5 inlet/outlet...
So I just thought I'd see some of you guys' opinions on what I should do w/ the rest of my exhaust.
PS future plans include n20, and I am looking for a good sound and performance aspects.
go 3 inch and dont look back. are you going to keep the flowmaster muffler?

If mandrel then go 2.5", 3" is overkill on our cars and the low end gets hurt because of not enough backpressure. It is a heated topic and people are going to come on here and disagree with me, o well. Go 2.5" catback and you will be all set.
If you were going turbo I would say 3" because of the volume of air being pumped in and out of the engine, but for a nitrous car, stick with 2.5"

first, im not starting a fight, just adding a comment.
i have the rumbler ( its 3" ) and swapped out the bullet for a sweet thunder ( 2.5 inner core ) and i didnt lose any noticeable low end power. still chrips 2cd gear, still lights them up just as easy.
if he keeps his 2.5" flowmaster, then there nothing wrong with going 3" from the cat to the muffler. that's what i'd do.

I'm keeping the flowmaster, and I forgot to ask if it would be mandrel bends...
They custom bend everything at the shop...I'll call tomorrow, but do they general mandrel bend the exhaust at local shops?
Personally I was thinking 2.5" to save some of my low-end
if your keeping the muffler just go 3" and be done with it. the nitrous will love it, it'll sound better, and the flowmaster will keep your flow restricted anough where you WONT lose anything down low.

to each his own, like I said this is an on going debate and something that comes down to personal preference at the end.
