After my failed attempt at trying to fabricate the "Home Depot Intake" for about $14. I was kinda disappointed it didn't work, but to tell the truth I'm glad I'm getting the whisper lid. It looks like it may flow more air than the stock airbox even w/ the fins shaved. Wouldn't have bought it without reading up on lots of threads on this website! BTW, i have a shaved stock airbox for sale if anyone wants it. (Probably not, but just a chance.) Looking forward to see the difference from the stock setup!

Re: Just Ordered Whisper Lid...
i didn't say anything about ram air, but thats another thing i'd like to look into... cutting out parts of the plastic underneath the air filter... i've heard a couple of things, such as the filter gets much dirtier than before, (which isn't a huge deal w/ the K&N filter)... anyone know anything from experience about that mod?
thanks

Re: Just Ordered Whisper Lid...
appreciate the advice... the lid should be here on tuesday, so i'll definitely post up the results... i have some pics that i'll post on here of the "free hot air"/"ram air" upgrade i did. took about an hour and a half, but thats just because i'm kind of a perfectionist and had to get it right. and as far as hot air, i seriously doubt it, because there is a HUGE pocket of air that seems to be right where i cut out. to be honest, it's basically just a home made verison of the stainless steel air intake you can get for about $150-$160 from LMP. in any case, i might fabricate some 1/8 inch stainless sheet metal to put under there and get some more cool air up there from the bottom of the car. anyone know if this is a bad idea considering the radiator is right there and it might be blocked? BTW, i didn't really take time to see where it was routed to, but what is the first of the two radiators there for? thanks fellas

Re: Just Ordered Whisper Lid...
just installed the whisper lid tonight and it sounds pretty damn good, i'm not gonna lie. throttle response has increased just a bit, and the car seems to run smoother in 5th gear around 45 MPH range, give or take about 5 MPH. unfortunately, it was raining here all day, so no grip in 1st or 2nd gear, haha. can't wait for dry roads and cold, dry air.
thanks for all the help... and BTW, the little rubber piece in which you put the o2 sensor, i found the cure for getting that bugger in easier... run it under hot water for 30-40 seconds and get the rubber more pliable and flexible. it's so much easier to get it in that way. then, to get that into the intake itself, spray some wd40 on a paper towel, rub down the lip on the rubber piece and the hole in the intake, push it straight in, and twist it left to right to get, it should go straight in with a little work, no modification to hole or rubber piece. this is a great mod, and i took some pics for those who think the shaved box is just as good. i'll post ASAP. thanks for the help fellas. =D
