where to buy whisper lid?

I'm thinking of finally buying a whisper lid fo rmy 99 y87. I was just wondering where the cheapest place to buy a lid would be??

also, I know you can also just shave the ridges inside the lid to get more air flow, some say it is just as good as a lid performance wise?

I just bought a whiper lid with an SLP intake from Thunder Racing for my 2001. I think the link is http://www.thunderracing.com. If that's not it, the link is under the general tech section on the sticky "v6 modification guide" I'm not sure how similar our cars are but I noticed when I took the stock lid off, the outlet on the lid was like an oval shape, very restrictive when compared to the whisper lid outlet, which is round and much much more open.

if I buy the whisper lid do I need to by the K & N air filter?? I read somewhere that the stock one doesn't fit

Man all i can say is "SAVE YOUR MONEY"

all you have to do to save 100$ is shave/smooth out the ridges & edges on the airlid and you will get the same results as the whisper.

As for the bellow (or big black box thingy between the t/b and box)...get yourself a 3" tube for a intercooler and it work great...looks nice too...i have pics if you need an example. Just ask....:naughty:

Total bubcuss. Shaving the lid is a poor substitute for a whisperlid. Whisperlids have a circular port as big as the upper air intake...virtually no restrictions compared to the oval port on a stock lid. Not to mention, it completely bypass the air silencer and is substantially taller than the stock lid. There is no comparison, and don't fool yourself into thinking there is

hey everyone, i was going to ask this same question. i just registered on this site cuz i liked it was specific to v6s. i wanted to find out about this modd since im considering doing it. so is thunderracing the best place to buy the lid? also, does anyone know if theres a way to fit a lid for a v8 on the 6. i actually had an slp that i was testing out and realized it didn't match up rite, but i thought i read somewhere that you can buy something to get it to connect

In camaro performers they were saying to heat up the end so if pliable and smash it down alittle into an oval. But i haven't tried it for myself.

dryer ducting would be your next step...but your best shot would be to sell the V8 lid on LS1tech and order one that was *gasp* made for your car
