Been doing a lot of looking around, is it possible to change to a 98 up airbox on a 96 Camaro? I want to get rid of the current stock intake and put something in that will work better.
in short, no you cant the hood is too low i think.

Hold up.....I asked this question bout a month ago. Someone found a link to lt1 I believe where they had done the conversion. You have to trim up the radiator shroud some, but it should work with a stock hood.
If I can get the parts locally pretty cheap I might try it. The stock air intake on the 96 looks pretty restrictive.
The stock intake on the 96 is VERY restricrive. A custom CAI will definately make a difference.
From what I understand, the 98+ hood's have more room under them right at the radiator, and allow the airbox to sit under it. The 93-97 hood's don't have that extra space, and the airbox must be modified to fit. Not only that, but our (I own a 96 too) Throttle Body's are angle too, as where the 98+ TB's aren't. You may save some money by buying the airbox kit, but may have to severely hack the crap out of it in order to make it fit properly. I say just get the intake that fits.
I have since cleaned it up a bit because it looked too sloppy. I will update my pics of it once the damn snow melts away from the garage door, and I can get in there to take some photo's.
It makes a big difference b/c they make a lid for the 98's with the angled TB's, so it makes it easier for him to do this...
