Deff. go with the SLP, it is well worth it!

      Re: Noob in need

Living in South Florida with all of the rain here I am concerned about having the filter mounted too low. I do not want it mounted outside the engine bay where you need to access it from underneath the car.

Are the ones where the filter is mounted up in the engine bay worth it, or would that actually draw in air that is hotter then the stock air box setup?

I do like the sound that a CAI makes and I am wondering if the shortened version will do the same?

I would go for getting the intake but it doesnt really have to be the FIPK the cold air intake that go from the TB to down in the fendwell area on ebay work just as good you most likely wouldnt even feel a differance in the two...the exhaust is a good choice and you may feel a slight bit of power from the cat maybe....I would look into headers like mentioned they arent really as tough as they look...or you can even try some gears and lsd that would be the best bet in my opinion....

you dont have anything to worry about your intake sucking up water on our cars...one it doesnt go down low enough and two it cant because the plastic peice that it underneath the front...if you are that worried about it the make this like bypass filter incase you would somehow achieve that its supposed to prevent the water to making it into the engine and hydrolocking it..

any chance i'll still notice it when my flowmaster is on?

Final gear ratio. Some people change the final gear ratio (they make it lower) to get better acceleration. I changed my gears from the stock 3.08 ratio to a 3.42 ratio and the car is noticably quicker. Much more of a difference than either the CAI or the flows. Check your RPO codes (those are the codes on the white sticker on the driver side door, you can check for the gearing code in one of hte stickies in the General section) to see what gears you currently have. If you already have the code Y87 then you needn't worry about it.

I got my exhaust (flowmaster) before before the CAI, as soon as I turned my car on after the CAI install, I heard the whooshing of air. I mean, it's not as loud as theexhaust, but it's def noticeable. So ya, you should still hear it.

thanx, i'll check it out. Where would you go to get your gears upgraded and how much generally would it cost? Also, where exactly are the gears located on the car?

The gears are located in the center portion of the rear end housing.
