    Re: Exhaust Cutout pics

I don't think they are legal to have open, but I have been driving with them open, and have yet to have any problems. I just got them, becaust I wanted an exhaust that was not to loud for road trips and night driving through my small town, but have the ability to make it loud when I want.
Ya I tried to fit them in that gap, they are only about 1 inch away; those pics were taken before the final fitting. I will post sound clip when I get the video camera next week. I still have the stock Cat and Man. the headers and hi flow are comming later.

      Re: Exhaust Cutout pics

Depends on your local laws if they are legal or not...

the only problem you will run into is just noise violations... they will likely break them. but depends on your cops, if they are ****s about it. Usually they are not. I have had my cutout open for weeks on end, and even recently with no CAT which is loud as hell.

it varies depending on the wording of your state statues, but generally any exhaust modification that makes the car louder than it was when it left the factory is illegal. However, there is a big difference between what is illegal and what is enforced...an open cutout drastically raises the chances of exhaust laws being enforced, compared to just a muffler or something

keep your foot out of the throttle and you'll be fine...most cops add "improper exhaust" ontop of another charge, like exhibition of acceleration or aggressive driving.

can those be turned up or down as far as volume goes?
with cutouts, there's only two settings...open and closed, quiet and loud

depends what you want...if you want the most power and noise, put it on the y-pipe...if you want the least power/noise, put it near the end of the I-pipe

you can take your butt-dyno printout and shove it. You may loose a few foot/pounds of torque, but what you lose, you gain in peak horsepower

Here is a video of my new cutouts open; the sounds quality is not the best on the digital camera.

Undercarriage wash? I live in a somewhat rural area, it is hard enough keeping the top part claen. Someone told me that an under wash could mess with electronics, but I hear all kinds of things.

meh..only electrical thing i can think of off-hand that is under the car are the O2 sensors, and you'd have to stick a high-pressure hose right on it to really damage it

Thanks, I will do that this summer; our roads suck here; that is the reason I dont have a body kit, or have lowered the car.
