  • Sensors and sims

Well, I finally received my Magnaflow 3" cat and catback, but there sems to be another hangup. In the new s-pipe, there is no place to plug in the o2 sensor. Not that this matters, since the o2 sensor would throw codes on a high flow cat anyway.

So, I figure this is when I need the o2 sim from Casper's Electronics, right? Maybe I'm a retard, but I'm finding everything but the actual sim on their website. (The link to their forums from the How-To sticky no longer leads anywhere.) I would just ask them on their own forums, but the silly "security code" images don't load, thereby preventing me from registering.

Those of you that have one, was anything else necessary to buy other than the sim? Their adapter for example?

While I'm getting the work done, I've thought about replacing the other 2 o2 sensors on either side of the engine for good measure. These are what I've found so far.

    Thanks for the comments.

Caspers does NOT make O2 sims anymore.

      Great, ordered. Thank you.

Plug and play, no need for anything else? Almost too good to be true. I'll go ahead and start hanging the new exhaust then, and stick this on when it arrives.

As for those o2 sensors at summit racing, they didn't have the exact car listed, but that was the only product left after going through the specs (make, engine size, etc.). They're listed as GM, so I suppose there's no problem.

Wow, they've jacked up the price for the sims. I bought mine from ZZP, but only paid $29.99 for it. Anyways, ordered it Friday evening, and it was sitting at my door Monday. Very quick shipping, and it works just fine with my gutted cat. As for the other O2 Sensors, I replaced mine with Bosch (all Advanced Auto Parts had) and they're working just fine. They were $40 each, if I remember right.

Well it's all installed finally. Looks good and sounds fantasic. I am having a couple of issues though.

The first thing I noticed is there seems to be quite a bit of dusty whitish smoke coming from the exhaust that was not present before. I'm thinking this is simply because of the new exhaust and it just needs to be broken in, but all the horror stories people tell about white smoke has me paranoid.

The simulator is installed, though the SES light is still on. I have yet to reset the computer however, so hopefully this will go away. On the other hand, the car doesn't want to rev past about 4k at all. Seems to be some kind of limp mode. Hopefully the reset will also clear this up. I need to run problem free for a little while so I can build up the cash for the next piece of work. >:0

Well it's a manual, so I guess you could say neutral. Never noticed that before, though.

I disconnected the negative terminal for well over 20 min, then came back and hooked it all back up and the SES light was still on. This was a surprise, since I fiured I'd at least have to drive 100 miles or so before having a light whether it was still throwing a code or not. I guess my next step is to take it to auto zone and see if its the same code it's been throwing.

Funny thing is that I had to enter the security code in the radio, but I still had all my presets. Was power not completely reset? Do I need to disconnect both terminals or something? Leave it unhooked longer?

I also bought one from zzp, installed it, and took the battery off for about 20 minutes, it didnt do anything the ses light was still on. So I brought it to my friend who used his obd computer scanner thing and he reset it and light has never been back on.
