Side Pipes?

is it possible to get side pipes coming out before the back wheels on a 97 firebird. im sure someone will say anythings possible with enough money but, is it practical.

yea you can do it, check with your state laws though before it. I know in MI it is illegal unless it came from the factory like that, else it has to be out the rear

i have mine coming out the side, but mine is right behind the back wheel. thats just for now though, i have a flowmaster 80 series sittin in my garage that im waiting to get on there, then ill have dual outlets

Get Lake Pipes. If state law is an issue, then get fake ones; theyre cheap and look cool either as singles or triples...

You prob. won't get hassled for it even if it is illegal...I live in MI as well, didn't kno they were illegal until 97rs just said so, but I had side exit b4 rear wheels for a long time and I never got harrassed

Not really side pipes but they exit before the rear wheels.

Side pipes on our car look like the would scrape everywhere.

On a side note, that would be one clean SS if it wasn't for those side pipes.

i dont really like it unless you have a body kit that molds around the exits, i think that'd look cool with the right kit

just dump them over the rear axle...

On another note my buddy has the above side exhaust on his s10 with chrome camaro tips. I think it looks great, but not on an fbod

check the wording on your state statue, but pretty much any modification of your car is illegal...it's just a matter of whether or not the cop wants to enforce it or not
