I dropped off my '96 maro at a shop to get these headers installed. It seems that the EGR tube flange from the headers is no where near where the original manifold sits. Is that normal? How can I fix it?

Re: PaceSetter Headers
yeah the pacesetters flange is a bit lower than stock, you have to bend and mess with the egr tube to get it to fit, no big deal though, it was made to bend, i had to bend the crap aout of mine and im sure everyone else would tell you the same, and i sure hope you got some abbott gaskets

Re: PaceSetter Headers
I just flat out bent it with a long rod. Also i was told to get an egr gasket off of an lt1 to help seal it up. My EGR to header connection leaks and they y pipes!Check out my cardomain site!
My Car

Re: PaceSetter Headers
The tube was bent and fitted. I didn't hear any exhaust leaks though, the pacesetter gasket was used. What troubles me now is that the header rubs against the steering column knuckle, that doesn't seem right to me. The guy at the shop said he can grind 1/16th" off the knuckle, should it be done?

Re: PaceSetter Headers
Thanks for the replies. I love the sound. I payed total of $400 flat, got a new O2 sensor and a 3"-2.5" reducer. That was the average price from about 5 diff shops I visited. Most of them tried to push me back 1 week or 2 and this shop did it next day. Don't know it's been there since the install or just started, I hear a ticking sound accelerating under load and it is not valves. exhaust leak?

or if you have a stephoscope (sp) use that to help.
or use a funnel to help direct the sound to your ear. ( better off putting the large end/top to your ear, and the small part around the egr and each header tube. )1998 bright red camaro ,M5 ,Y87 ,stock

Originally posted by Rune:
If it smells like a turd and looks like a turd, chances are its probably not a candy bar.
