Quick question before I decide to upgrade my completely stock 2000 v6 exhaust...
If I replace the Cat with a high flow and get a Cat-back, is the O2 Sim completely necessary, or would it be possible to have an O2 Sensor bung welded into the new pipe? Would this still throw an SES code?
My question was already answered here: http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=78754, since that's the same CAT I was looking at. Might be moving to Cali some day soon, so I'd rather keep my O2 sensor there and be able to pass inspections. Anyone in Cali try this and/or have problems passing inspections after converting to 3" exhaust?
After reading through Grayman's 3" conversoin tutorial, I think that's about the same direction I'm headed. I just want to be sure I know what I'm getting myself into... I'm looking at pretty much the same setup: 3x3 Cat (but without O2 bung), Magnaflow 15620 3" Cat-back with S-pipe, welded O2 sensor bung with plug (try it, if it throws a code, then Sim it; make it look legal and hope it can pass the CA test when we move there). I also want to put a 3" bullet muffler in.
