    1.75! thats smaller than stock!
are you sure thats a magnaflow catback maybe just the muffler?
i dont think they make one that small for the 3.8.

So what headers should i be looking at if i can spend less than $500, and im pretty sure ceramic coated is the way to go cuz ive heard just the uncoated ones tend to rust out pretty quick

ceramics will rust too. With a budget of $500, you're limited to either Pacesetters or RKSports

So the ceramic pacesetters really arent worth $150 more??? Install will probably rape me though

                  Re: Headers

The ceramic coating keeps underhood temperatures down by about 250 degrees...which is worth it IMO.

                    Re: Headers

install them yourself, just takes about 8 hrs :P. I know my "cat-back" is smaller than the stock, it came with the car and I thought it was a complete kit. Now that I know it's smaller piping, I know it's just a muffler placed there. As for sound, it sounds completely different IMO. I gun it and it almost sounds V8ish. I really like it and say you should definitely do it :D

                      Re: Headers

The ceramic coating will last a whole hell of a lot longer than the high temp paint but will eventually come off. It is worth the extra money though.

yeah, deeper and throatier. :) My friend noticed this as well and we noticed it sounds a lot like the GTPs that are in my car club with full exhausts.

So if i dont have much experience with cars, like all ive done is installed my cold air intake, would I be able to figure out how to install headers??? Some guy on here earlier said itd take 8 hours, is that true? Also is there clear cut directions that come with them?

                            Re: Headers

There's a how-to on this site. They're very basic to install, and the hardest parts are getting the old manifolds off and lining the egr valve back up. If you know how to turn a wrench, you should be able to install these. then you could take them to a shop and have them welded to the cat isntead of clamped. That shouldn't cost much, and would be alot cheaper than having the shop install them.

                              Re: Headers

if all you have done is install a CAI, i wouldnt suggest doing the headers yourself. i would suggest though that you try. get with someone who has done it before, or who is more mechanically inclined that is willing to help you and you should be fine. but CAI and headers are very different things to install.

as far as the time, it can be done in 2 hours, it can be done in 8, all depends on the tools and the experience you have going into it.

I just installed some SLP longtube headers on my buddies LS1 Z28, it took about 4 hours to install and the engine compartment for those engines are crazy tight, I'd say that the 3.8L engines would be alot easier to work on then the LS1's. Here's a video of after the install with just open headers, that thing was crazy loud :D
