  • Dual Air Filter Intake

So I'm finally getting around to adding pics of my custom intake setup me and my girlfriend built! Total at Autozone was around $200. Now when I accelerate and shift it sounds like a turbo's blowoff valve! :omg: I definately recommend this to anyone!

looks pretty nice, but clean your engine bay!!

I'd also recommend that you get those filters down into the fenderwell to get some colder air. Right now your getting mostly warm air from the engine..still an improvement but could be better.

1- instead of making two in the engine bay, one further down in the fender probably would have been better. cooler air=more power, and generally abit less cooler air makes more then alot of hot air (I read every 10* difference in temp is about 1HP difference)

2- engine bay could use a nice cleaning :P

Other then that, it's a very nice looking intake considering you made it yourself. But for that price, you could have gotten a SLP intake which would probably work abit better.

Edit: Damn you Gr8Schlotzky, beating me to everything

Cool! Thanks for the feedback guys! On the left side of the engine bay where the battery was the radiator overflow tank is in the fender well. Couldn't really move that anywhere to fit the filter down in there but I'll definately move the right side filter down some.

              Re: Dual Air Filter Intake

It doesn't sound really like the high pitched purge of a BOV but the sound it makes when I lift off the gas to shift then punch it was the closest thing I could compare the sound to. It's just like a loud sucking sound. I'm new to the whole car mod scene so excuse me if I get thrilled by little stuff like this which seems like nothing to you experianced enthusiasts. I just did it so I could actually take pride in doing something custom on my car that I think looks cool. But thanks for the feedback anyway.

oh my, please never post a pic again until you clean that engine bay, good grief. I can hardly find an engine in that picture!

cool idea, SLP could have been had for that price, but it is different

damn theres actually a member thats not far away from me! lol i was wondering if u can run an cai directly to the throttle body on my 96? the stock system has a tube that goes to the radiater and then the air intake off to the side...is this tube needed? ide like to run my cai directly to it if i dont need the tube from the radiater...

                          Re: Dual Air Filter Intake

you say run the cai, the cai is the filter and tubing (the whole thing)

CAI stand for cold air intake, so to pick up the cold air you need the filter to be far from the engine bay in an area to pick up colder air like in the fender or so. Putting it right on the TB will only suck in warm air.

well right now its on stock tubing to the tube that goes to the throttle body from the radiater, im thinkin of makin tubing to go strait to the throttle body, leave the filter where it is just for looks i want to make chrome tubing to go from the filter to the throttle body directly, and get rid of the 1 from the rad.

Show me a picture of your engine bay I'll see what your options are.
