I need to get a new catalytic converter now. Anybody have any advice for me??

buy a universal one and have a shop install that for you. The cat on our cars includes the y-pipe and s-pipe, so it costs around 2-300 dollars in parts if you just pull into a random garage and ask them to fix it for you

so I cant just get the converter itself put in? I have to get the extra pipes?

Hes saying if you go to a shop and tell them to fix it, they will order the regular cat meant for our cars which inclues the y pipe and stuff like that which is not necessary. So your better off buying a universal cat and have them install it. It will be cheaper.

precisely...they'll go thru there parts index, and for a V6 F-body, the y- and s-pipe are welded onto the cat. It is possible to do a modular replacement, but you have to bring your own cat
