Forewarning: If you get bored, just read the underlined stuff below :p

Okay, you guys can bash me as much as you want, but I hope to find a little bit of pointers in this lovely - but hopefully positive - criticism. My knowledge on cars is quite diminutive. I have a 2000 Camaro with the typical stock v6 3.8L engine. Yeah... Yeah... I know I should have got the SS or Z28 with the V8, but hey, when you're 17 and got a "sports" car, you're typically satisfied with what you've earned.

    But enough with that...

I read all the FAQ, and I suppose you can say what I learned is the pieces of the exhaust: the muffler, tips, i-pipe, s-pipe, and resonators. OH! And also that my exhaust has a 3" pipe? As you can tell, this stuff wouldn't enter my brain more than a twig poking at a boulder. :poke:

So obviously, I do understand that the exhaust isn't going to form my car into the "batmobile" and make it run single digits in a quarter. What I would like is something that will make it sound better (as in a more masculine sound unlike my current feminine, yet soothing, pure) and also something that will improve my car's exterior appearance.

I'd appreciate the help, if possible, and seriously take a bow to you.

if you use the search function, you'll get your answer faster, as this question has been covered very thoroughly. You'll generally hear that flowmaster is what most people have, and most tend to be happy with it. There are many however, like myself, that prefer Borla or magnaflow over flowmaster and most other exhaust systems because of the sound and slightly better flowing designs. Your stock piping is 2.25"

I did try to search. Sorry. Um.. Can I get some links? Oh and any universal shops (possibly in las vegas) that will install this crap? I was looking at these two things:
      http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3810
      and
      http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/pr...oducts_id=3298

Do I go with a whole new kit? Or just the muffler? Or what? I'm confused.

well, you said nothing in regaurds to performance, so depending on the money you want to spend, you may be happy with just the muffler. You can get any tips for any muffler to make your exhaust look however you want it so that's not brand specific although certain kits come with certain tips already. You will get a deeper sound if you get the whole kit, normally a cat back, but you will get a louder better sound than stock with just the muffler, so it comes down to money.

if you do decide to go with just the muffler, the exhaust shop is going to have to bend you up some pipes and your gonna want to buy some tips to put on as well.

sounds good. Make sure the tips are stainless steel; chrome will rust and look like ****. And also, look into getting an exhaust cutout. I have one on my Camaro and it sounds fantastic. Go to www.youtube.com search "camaro cutout" I have a video on there and I believe there is one other. Cutouts are only about $30.00 plus the install, which takes 10-20 min.

They are illegal to have uncapped though (bypassing the muffler) in most states. I drive mine like that anyways.
