      Re: headers ready for install

sorry for takeing so long to reply i got the bolts from ftpp.com
and about the bolts over nite in oil? i missread the write up i checked and just like 97iastatecamaro said that he will use
penetrating oil /lubricant on the manifold bolts the night before and also the morning of to help with gettting those loosened<< thats what i ment.

      so i should get some
      Frechles71>high temp RTV silicone
      and new bolts for header-y-pipe?
Chevy16>(its the bolts that connect the headers to the y-pipe that suck,)

loctite is kinda like a glue, if you put it on header bolts you have more of a chance of breaking one off in the head when going to remove them. even without loctite the stock bolts break off easily. i know i broke 2 when romoving mine but luckely they both had little studs still sticking out of the head and i was able to get some visegrips on them

im not calling you dumb, dont take it that way, its just not a very wise thing to do

and MIKE1stcamv6 most on here i think would agree you dont really NEED the high temp silicone if you have abbott gaskets. they seal really well as it is but now that i think about it you will need some for where the egr connects so if you really want to get some get some of that copper stuff

            Re: headers ready for install

yea sorry MIKE1stcamv6... im not familiar with the abbott gaskets... but others with experience say that u dont need it... so i would listen to them... i know that it helps alot with regular old gaskets... again with the abbott gaskets im not sure how true the bolt holes align with the exhaust holes... with normal gaskets sometimes its not the greatest so the silicone helps to keep the gasket in place as you, positioning and tightening the headers... so if the other members say u dont need it... then dont waist the few bucks on it bud

That's because the stock studs suck, I broke one to. That has nothing to do with using locktite on the pacesetter ones.

abbottracingheads.com they make 1000 degree header gaskets for our v6 camaros. I have that high temp sealent and just ordered my abbott gaskets but i still plan on using the sealent, wont hurt none i dont think

                          Re: headers ready for install

If you remove the cat it will be more raspy becasue it is more free flowing along with the resonator. How much did your system deepen up ?
