Hey guys, I'm new and my first interest is exhaust and maybe an intake!

I just picked up a silver 99 V6 firebird vert with apperance package and only 66,000 miles. It's as quiet as a 4 banger G6 though!

I have always put Flowmaster on my cars!

89 V6 Firebird - Flowmaster
90 V6 Z24 - Flowmaster
92 V6 Jimmy - Flowmaster
97 V6 Grand Am - Flowmaster
02 V8 Mustang - First Magna Flow - Then quickly switched to Flowmaster
04 V8 MACH 1 - Flowmaster

I love the flowmaster sound but would still like input from you guys! The only other thing I may be interested in right now is an intake - what are the ones that make the biggest differences in sound and performance?

you'll like flowmaster just the same on the bird.

do a search on intakes, you'll get plenty of results on it.

welcome... whisper lid and go with the flowmaster. Alot prefer magnaflow but sounds like you know what you like already.

I had 2 V8 mustangs, always looking for a new toy, the only other car I have right now is the 90 z24 and my dd a 07 G6! If you click these links you can see pictures of the Mach1 and the Z24!

Flowmaster here and love it! Compare to your 02 GT, how slow would you say your new firebird? Just curious.....Oh BTW, welcome :wavey:

No painting the firebird, the only thing I may do is touch up the ground effects a bit - if ever needed. The Firebird feels sooo heavy compared to the Mustangs,..... Um it's different because my Stangs were manuals. The firebird could be a touch more responsive. So far I'm thinking:

Flowmaster
Whisper Lid
Helix throttle body spacer

Any other little things I should look into?

if you want a throttle body spacer just go with zzp. the helix is metal so it'll conduct heat, has those stupid swirls, and is twice as expensive. i don't want to start anything on the flowmaster muffler.

What do you recommend as far as exhaust? I'm open to suggestions, that's why I posted!I understand a flowmaster will just lounden the tone the car already has... Which is fine but I also think it screams V6 3.1, 3.4, 3.8 z24s, grand ams. grand prix. olds. etc etc. I can cruise now with the quiet exhaust and people may think it's a V8 due to the apperance of the car, now if it has a flowmaster I will like the sound better then stock but, it will also be a give away to the car being a V6 (not that there's anything wrong with that!) So what's another option to the car not sounding so stock, but having a nice tone?

ive got a magnaflow cat and muffler and the sound is awsome....oh and dont cut the cat and put a strait pipe with a magnaflow. its REALLY loud and has lots of rasp at full throttle.

Ive got a flowmaster 80 series catback with a magnaflow high flow cat and pacesetter headers and it sound GREAT!
