from the ad: SSRA (formerly Super Sucker Ram Air)

''...A blower fan was placed in front of the nose of the car to simulate airstream. The airstream velocity was measured at 60mph with an anemometer at 10 feet away. On a Dynojet, a stock 2002 Camaro Camaro SS picked up approximately 13 rwhp over stock. The SSRA is a quick, easy way to gain real horsepower.

Also available with the top piece only.

    Price: $194.99''

Re: SSRA (formerly Super Sucker Ram Air)

Well, long ago I worked as a sheet metal helper, and I bet I can make this!
The main difference seems to be that it shares the air intake that feeds the radiators, but the chute makes it direct, and insulates the intake air from the ambient heat of the radiators...

proably just about as good as the fast toys or any other CAI, they had a "track" version with a bigger scoop available at one time. Note though you will not see 13rwhp with this. How these mods affect v6's vs v8's is different. V6 requires less air to begin with, being that we practically share the same intakes (yes I know 8 vs 6 is a little different) when it comes to the volume of air they allow in you will see less gain with the same mod. Our cars are closer to achieving maximum effeciency N/A.

Also note that you'd have to be over 120 mph to see any real "ram air" effect. My father-in-law told me about an airplane that he flew which had a functional ram air that could achieve 1PSI boost at around 120mph air speed. The way he explained there was some sort of flap you could open at 120 mph and get a little extra power. Below that it's worthless. Most of the "ram air" kits for our cars are simply cold air kits.

not trying to slam your post or anything but since you were quoting the sales info I thought I'd throw in a second opinion.

What's the point of this thread? Are you just informing us about the product or are you buying the product? I have this SSRA in my camaro w/holley lifetime filter + hi flow Lid and I LOVE IT!!! I immediately felt better throttle response after the installation. Only problem with this system is that it's bottom plastic scoop breaks from parking lots curbs or uneven pavement. After fixing (super glue) it three times, I got rid of the bottom portion but it still works da*n good.

Sorry; just getting info like yours re this intake.
Glad you like it. Again, I think I can fab one, tho I already have a Whisperlid/K&N setup, raised with washers in front. I am dubious re the 'Free Ram Air' mod.
I wonder if the black impact foan in the bumper can have air passages reamed from the to grill intakes to the front of the 'Lid?
