  • EGR leak???

So the only problem i have had with my headers since i got them on last week is a mysterious clicking noise just on the left side when i accelerate, ive heard people having leaks with their egr with the pacesetters, so im thinking it might be that,SO i think im going to put some high temp sealent on the egr valve, will that do it?? Im also going to check the flange bolts also to make sure they are tightened.

This is the problem everyone here has, in my car, the problem is with the EGR hose connected to the header. If it is not fitted well, high temp sealent won't do the work, or that's what happened to me...

i ended up just blocking it off.

try some copper RTV. let it set over night if possible, the stuff works GREAT.

I use no gasket and RTV. Every once in awhile it blows out and I have to replace the RTV, but the current seal I'm on has lasted 6 months already.

              Re: EGR leak???

i couldnt keep it sealed. we tried making a gasket and putting it in and then covering it with RTV... that blew out too.
so i just went to gmpartsdirect and got a new tube, so hopefully i'll be able to get it sealed up.

apparently the LT1 gaskets work better.

I've had the best luck with no gasket. I tried stock and LT1 with and without RTV but gasketless with RTV really worked the best.

                  Re: EGR leak???

yeah, that makes sense. im sure it depends on the size of the leak though. mine was REALLY off, so the rtv just isnt able to hold. the gap is so large that the air automatically blows the rtv out.
