I'm not completely decided on what I'd like to do yet !

Can some of you post models numbers to just the borla mufflers and just the magnaflow mufflers? Also any other flowmasters besides the 80 series that will weld right up? What if I were to use an 80 series from the 1980s!? Is there any benifit to that? I like the idea of trying something new since I've always done Flowmasters even after trying magnaflow on one of my mustangs...(but there's a lot of factors with that choice...) I understand a flowmaster will just lounden the tone the car already has... Which is fine but I also think it screams V6 3.1, 3.4, 3.8 z24s, grand ams. grand prix. olds. etc etc. I can cruise now with the quiet exhaust and people may think it's a V8 due to the apperance of the car, now if it has a flowmaster I will like the sound better then stock but, it will also be a give away to the car being a V6 (not that there's anything wrong with that!) So what's another option to the car not sounding so stock, but having a nice tone?

Re: Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster - ALSO ABOUT THE WHISPER LID

=) Also are there any other worthy options besides the whisper lid? not that I have anything against them! What make the best sucking sound when you rev it? any other little mods to make er breath better?

Re: Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster - ALSO ABOUT THE WHISPER LID

      1. Borla- sounds great, very expensive
      2. Magnaflow- sounds good too, decent price
      3. Flowmaster- sounds like turds but cheap

If you're on a budget I think Dynomax is a great option. Cheap and sounds great.

i have flowmaster 80 series, and i don't think it sounds really bad at all.

it does get ricey up in higher rpms, but from what ive heard most do. 1-2.5k rpms it sounds very nice i think

Any muffler you put on our v6 is going to sound ricey at high rpms, around 2 k rpm is where it will sound the best, getting headers and high flow cat will eliminate a lot of the rasp but its still going to be there at high rpms

            Few V6 Camros sound 'ricey'.

IMO...V6 Camaros tend to sound 'V6ey'.

              Re: Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster

Do you have an aftermarket muffler on your car???? Cuz if its stock then yeah you wont hear that ricey noise but if you get an aftermarker muffler at high rpms it will sound ricey but usually only when you are parked and rev it up

I have a flowmaster and im happy with it.
if you do just do a cat back flowmasters dont sound that great.
but if you do heddars hi flo cat they sound pretty good.

Yea, ricy is like "thbbbbbbt/bad farting." As long as you don't dog the car most ppl won't be able to tell it's a V8 (but i think tha'ts b/c most people are idiots). I have the flowmaster 80 series on mine, and I've fooled many a moron.

I agree with 97iastatecamaro, from 2k-2.5k def sounds the best. Above that and it's blatently obvious it's not an 8. But hey, like my dad said to me "It sounds like you're missing...two cylinders."

is the 80 series all you have and it still sounds good? or do you have cat and/or headers.
