  • ls1 vs 3.8 exhaust

i want to buy a stock ls1 exhaust for my car because i want dual exhaust but i dont my car to sound like some rice crap like every aftermarket exhaust does.

i know there are differences in the hanger positions, but is there any way to get one to work by keeping everything stock?

i looked at that "slp install kit" and it just looked like two weird clamp things.. probably something i can rig up at home

so is it possible to do this? or will i have to pay the $84 for this install kit?

edit* if its not possible for me to rig up something myself.. is there any dual exhaust muffler that wolnt make my car sound like crap.. meaning it will sound completly stock?

just look for a z28 or trans am muffler back and you should be fine. If you can just find the muffler then you could just weld on the piping to the rear the way you want it.

      98-02 V6 and V8 are the same.

That is for installation of the SLP Loudmouth, not a stock LS1. It can be used, however. I have one for sale.

thats still gunna sound like an aftermarket and ur not gunna get rid of that sound unless you add 2 more cylinder to your car. I have a magnaflow exhaust and it sounds good no rasps, but not like a v8 if thats the sound u want...

i never said i want my car to sound like a v8, i said i want the look of dual exhaust without the sound.. hence why i want to put the ls1 muffler on.

its not going to be noisy as hell and sound like a ricer

If you want the look of dual exhaust without the sound different go find a stock dual exhaust for the V6. If i'm right that comes form the Y87 package...I'm sure people with that package have them for sale. Of course they will probably be hard to find. The only thing you might want to do then is change the tailpipes, because IMO they look kinda f'tarded.

are you sure about the y87?

i looked it up, and all of the pictures dont show dual exhaust

No, the hangers are the same, but the muffler inlet is different.

the pipe size shouldnt be a problem, as long as the inlet is bigger than the stock pipe, which it will be...the guys at the local muffler shop here welded a 2.5 inch flowmaster 80 to my stock 2.25 w/ a lil fitment that enlarged the end of the pipe...no big deal, and if you do it right it wont leak or anything...good luck on ur proj.
