I did EXACTLY what you did...

lol today I went to lowes, looking for this:

Found it in 5 seconds, bought it..

Went home took off all of the fins in the airbox NO problem.. I did what someone else said and worked my way down slightly bending, then just snapped the whole thing off all at once at a clean break... no need for sanding.. washed it off anyways.

Took out the silencer, put the 3x3 coupling (which btw... feels like it is ****ing made for this exact thing it fits so perfect..) in place... tightened it down... bam

I took it for a test drive, and it sounds WAY deeper, and yeah you can like hear the air blowing through as you hit the gas.. Well worth 30 minutes and $6... lmao Probably best $6 I spent. And this is like flexible PVC/rubber so it looks like it will last a while.. unlike that dryer ducting stuff.

Anyone thinking about doing it, do it.

Already did it. Like 3 years ago. Definitely a worthwhile mod IMO. Sounds better for sure.

I'm already on to my next set of mods..

I need to replace a bulb so it's a good excuse to get clears..

And I think i'm going to get an electric cutout.

I'm assuming not even this would work on a 1998 Camaro/Firebird?

Well tbh, I saw some 90* "soft pvc" (it's basically rubber like that ^), and some other angled ones.. you might want to look into that.. basically go to lowes.com or go in.. and it's in the: Building products/Plumbing/Pipes and Fittings/Flexible fittings...

You can go online and follow that and see what they have in stock in your nearest store. I'm not familiar with the 98 (mainly cause I don't have one), but they have a 90 degree one you could get, but I don't know if it will fit... But if you do this, make sure you get the 3" one, it fits absolutely perfect.

Or maybe if the 90 degree one won't work this might:

Again.. I would have to see a pic of the 98 cause I forgot what kind of angle it's at.

98s have the angled tb, so it would not work.

                  Intake styles:

                  95-97 are the same
98 "b@stard year" combination of the 95/97 and 99/02 intake
                  99-02 are the same

Do you think it would be possible to use a 1999 - 2000 TB in a 98?

                      possible, yes, anything is possible

easy, absolutely not. Big pain in the butt with a lot to change as the 99+ use a drive by wire setup instead of the drive by cable tb.

                      gains, minimal if any

98 guys, I would get a whisper lid and call it good or go with a SLP 95-97 CAI and remove your lid setup

                          a

It was a PITA just to get this on... because you forget how the lid is almost right above the TB

                            Definately better than dryer hose.

that would work fine... i put this dryer ducting on after trying to find PVC for hours and I havne't had one problem. Its been on for almost a year and not one singe sign of wear or problem.

What I like about what I have over what you linked is that the rings are so close together that when its pushed together, like I hate it, its pefectly round on the inside and has no grooves.
