I have Pacesetters, and I had originally planned on doing a 2.5" system, but I want 3" all the way back from the y-pipe collector. I bought a 3" carsound, thinking that Magnaflow made a 3" system, but soon found out that they didn't (unless it's for the V8 model). I know I'll probably have to go with an LS1 cat-back system, or buy a muffler and have a shop bend me pipes. Any suggestions? Thanks.
This is your third thread on the same subject... but yeah I would suggest getting one made for the ls1 if your car is 98+... 93-97 had different hangers
I know, I'm freaking out about this for some reason... that and college is starting soon and I'm freaking out about that, haha... sorry for the mountain of threads, this will be the last... my car is a 99... i just basically need to know what it takes to hook up an aftermarket LS1 exhaust to a v6. (preferably magnaflow)
Is the TSP rumbler system stainless steel? Because I may go with that instead, because one of my selling points for Magnaflow was the full stainless construction.
And I'm not sure if I'm going to a shop or doing it myself yet. I have a couple of friends who know how to weld so I'd rather get a cat back and do it myself. I also have access to two different lifts. It'd be nice to not have to pay a shop to do all of the work as well.
rumbler is NOT stainless. if your worryed about rust, definatly go magnaflow.
graymans guide is very helpful, shouldnt have any issues.

Yeah, but I've already come across something wrong. I have my Pacesetters, and just got my Carsound cat (3") today, but they're the exact same diameter...? I thought the y-pipe was supposed to fit around the cat according to the guy's guide.
My header gaskets are on the way from Abbott Racing, I need to get the correct bolts to install my headers, I need to figure out how to connect my y-pipe to my cat, and most importantly... Cat back...
I was eyeing this from FTPP.net,(http://www.ftpp.net/V6Main.htm scroll down to 3" Magnaflow) but with no S-pipe. I'm sure an exhaust shop would have no problem making one for me though for a decent price.
I'm beginning to think the exhaust thing isn't going to be worth it anymore...
I talked to one of my mechanic buddies, and he ordered me a LT1 3" exhaust with Cherry Bomb muffler for $150. It was the I-pipe and overaxle pipe and muffler, all mandrel bent. He then made me a S-pipe and tailpipes and replaced my cat with a straight pipe. Total, it costed me $320 for it all, installed. So, I've got PaceSetter headers with 3" Y-pipe, going to 3" piping all the way back to a 3" dual 2.5" out muffler.

The pacesetter y-pipe is expanded to 3" ID on the end. I don't know why they did this. Just cut off the expanded lip.
