Well I just completed the intake. Here are some pics. I am thinking about welding some up out of 3 inch tube and selling them for cheap, they wont be chromed or painted but the welds will be strong. They will come with adapters and fittings/clamps also. You can build it yourself real easy as I did, but if anyone would like one made I can do it. I was thinking about getting more pipe and having the filter come out where the grill is for a ram air effect. Just would involve some cutting. Let me know what you think. I will also be installing an inline bypass filter for use if water gets sucked up, which I doubt it will but to be safe.
Good thing it is a partial mock up of what I may start welding up, I will go move it to the other side I think there is enough room. Ill get picks if it works, but as I said I may have the pipe run in front of the radiator like some people do when they make the custom air ducts for ram air lids and find out to work something like that. Ill keep you all posted. Another idea is removing the rad support and replacing it with dimond plate or polished aluminum and cutting a 3" hole in that and running it through the front. There would still be room for the stock hood to close. As for cost mike if you are serious I wil get it figured up, My neighbor has a machine shop for me to get pipe and stuff from and start up plans, I can get a cost soon.
You would have better results using the lid and making it a straight shot instead of the longer length and wicked sharp bends to disrupt the airflow.
Whisper lid and smooth bellows would net you better results. Plus your new setup has now placed the air filter in the engine bay right next to the engine and therefore you are going to be getting hotter air and the piping will heat up as well
Where did you get that pipe from though? Some nice shiny stuff
Yeah I am aware of it getting heated air. 90 degree bend going into the TB, the pipe is not loosing diameter though. I kno its creating turb. going in at the sharp bend so I have found a remedy. I am going to remove the radiator support and run the tube in front of the radiator. Then the filter will be down near the grill holes. I am basically experminting with it rite now, I have some random pipe to work with which are different degree angles. It will be straight out of the TB and then a 45 or 60 degree bend and go in front of the rad, I will wrap the pieces with heat wrap also once it gets in front of the rad.
i like the water bypass option. Because for some Reason the wife always seems to get a Check Engine Light when it rains cause of the way she drives through puddels. Plus i still need a 4 inch to 3 inch reducing elbow and more pipe to complete my CAI and id rather just buy this one! Please inform me when you sell them! What the price your looking at so far for them? Fit A 1996 Camaro?
I can make it fit a buddy of mine has a 3.8 with angled TB so I can fit it up, I dont kno which size for intake is best 3 or 4 inch, when i figure out what size everyone likes the most popular size will be what i start using. However as you can read, there is still some hot air comming in with this intake, I will work on a fix tomorrow and let you know, the 96 is the car with the angled TB and the intake that goes to the drivers side rite? No air lid?
You can buy that pipe with connectors also, but I will be able to make them already fit for the camaro cheaper than you can make it for buy buying no polished tubing.
yah i believed its angled throttle body. Anybody back me up on this on a 96 Maro? And it does go over to the drivers side. i have some pics if that will help what mine looks like.
Im hoping the price is right! What is the average price gonna be?

Definately looks like a 96...I have the same effed up intake set up on my 96. And yes I would be interested in having a CAI made for my car as well.
