My 94 3,4...

I got a 94, and I had a couple questions. if I put a piece of strait pipe in where the cat is, whats gonna happen? I think my cat has gone bad..its got over 184,000 miles on it and my motor feels like something is holding it back. Also there is a leak in a couple places in the exaust and idk where they are. How do i find the rest of the leaks? I live in fla so there isnt any emission problems. Is cutting out the cat going to make my car louder or is it just going to keep it the same? And everytime I start my car, where the exaust was there is a black spot on the ground of, oh hell, i have no clue what it is. And it also smokes a little white puffs out of the exuast a little. It also runs kinda rough, and when your going down the road, its not like it pops, but there is like a jolt in it, i think its got a mis in it somewhere. I have replaced plugs, wires, oil and oil filter, i added STP complete fuel system cleaner, air filter, and i have changed all the fluids...and im on the 3rd tank of fuel (i bought the car las tmonth.)

if you are running your ac when laying into the throttle it will hessitate like almost a miss.. turn off your ac and see if that helps with it......

you white puffs could be your valve seals.. i have one that is leaking on mine.. it will only puff on start tho.. and it goes away after a few seconds

i have valve seal puff too, but my 95 runs smooth and clean right at 203,000 miles...w/ the running rough, ur injectors may need to be cleaned (by hand, not w/ treatment) or replaced, also a bad O2 sensor could cause some rough running...good luck my fellow high mileage crusader!!!

i have valve seal puff too, but my 95 runs smooth and clean right at 203,000 miles...w/ the running rough, ur injectors may need to be cleaned (by hand, not w/ treatment) or replaced, also a bad O2 sensor could cause some rough running...good luck my fellow high mileage crusader!!!

From your original question, if you remove the CAT and replace it with a pipe:

I did the exact same thing to my 1993 3.4L Firebird and it really improved the performance of the car. My car now runs better, sounds better and does not smell like rotten eggs.
