Figured what the hell and ordered a cutout for my other completely stock exhaust. As I understand emmissions/inspection won't matter with it on as long as it's closed right?
Other than that, figure if I don't like it, $30 lost and just cap it untill I order a cat-back. Havn't seen any soundclips/vids of a cutout on stock pipes with stock manifolds yet.
I'll try to take on and share how decently ok or bad it sounds. ;)
That's about all I have to say about the cutout, even on stock pipe. I have a new cat (non-high flow) but otherwise stock everything else.
It's loud, imo not as horridly loud as I was thinking but a nice loud. Free reving it does a little rasp about 3k but again... not as bad as I thought it would be.
Driving with the window down there is a little drone but it sounds fantastic! Under load it really don't notice any poping at all to be honest. Also under load in the car trying to listen for it.... I didn't hear much rasp other than when engine braking or at like 4.5K+.
Maybe it's just me, and I had bad expectations for it, but it really does sound fantastic. Idle is amazing, really amazing. Putting around town it is nice and loud, a head turner, but not too bad.
Then again I drove to work when done.... When walking to the building a friend came out into the parking lot saying he looked out the window inside the building 2nd floor and saw me and said he could easily hear me from in there. Cool ;)
Hey i have a question. Im getting ready to order a elecrtic cutout and i was wondering where does the cutout supposed to go. Is it between the y pipe and the cat? Where does it sound best at?
I put mine almost directly below the passenger side door handle. There is that little pocket there underneath the rear seat. Worked well and sounds great!
I should have my camera back in a few days for pics and a movie.
I had open pipes after my cat and it was great at idle, other than that it wa sawful and embarissing. A V6 with no pipes sounds like a red neck mobile, Just my opinion though.
Took some video of the car. Tried watching them on my laptop but you can't even hear it. So either the laptop speakers can't play the low loud tones or my camera can't take them.
Transfering them to my desktop right now so if it's the laptop speakers I'll post the video on youtube otherwise if it's the camera mic I'll try to figure something else out.
Sorry, I just can't seem to make this camera take audio worth a damn. It is just very very muffled like it doesn't even pick up the sound from the car.
Hey guys. For starters I’ve always been a big car guy, I love all types of cars and can appreciate all types of engineering. I’ve always been a Chevy...
