  • Ugh!!!! Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow (sigh)

Ive been reading seriously every post about this but I just cant figure out what to buy. I currently have straight dual exhaust (S pipe) with no muffler. Its loud, and sounds good on the start at idle but at 2400 rpm it gets ricey as hell. I have the magnaflow high flow cat to help with sound etc. I am extremely indecided as to what to get, either the Flow or Magna. I have asked several people how they felt and its seriously 50/50 always. I can listen to the sound clips on here but they really dont do justice to actual sound imo. Im kinda tired of my loud exhaust and im looking for something with a deeper tone and a lot less raspy. Has anyone here had both Flow and Magna and gone with either one over the other? All advice/comments are appreciated! Thanks

What price range you looking for? I personally built my own 3" exhaust for about $350, not including the cost of headers. Pacesetter Headers, No cat, 3" piping back to a 3"/ dual 2.5" outlet Cherry Bomb muffler. Sounds really good, doesn't rasp too much. It's loud, but not too loud. When you talk inside the cabin, you've got to speak abit louder, but it's not bad at all.

Magnaflow hands down.... flowmasters are actually more restrictive than Magnaflows due to the chambers of the flowmaster

If I had the choice to do it again, I would go Flowmaster but not remove the resonator. It gives you a nice sound, I like it.

im running the american thunder cat back, i cut the cat off and ran a pipe straight pipe back to the muffler. sounds good, its a little loud but sounds good for a v6. im thinking about puting a glass pack inline to quiet it down a bit. i noticed a decent increase in power after cutting the cat out, i think that is mostly due to it being clogged up and shot.

The only reason I would ditch my flowmaster is because its rusting now... I would get a magnaflow but I've never been a fan of the sound too much, though it is stainless steal and affordable.

Flowmaster sucks... Raspy on the top end, restrictive and it rusts easily. Magnaflow pipes and summit turbo mufflers ftw

my price range is $300 or so $400 max. I want dual piped exhaust. I currently have the stock piping on the car so what would be the best piping to do throughout the car and what kind of price am i looking at for that from a shop? JohnnyC that sound clip sounded amazing to say the least, I've pretty much ruled out flowmaster after hearing most of the sound clips etc. Does Borla make a dual outlet exhaust thats cheap? I am seriously stressing out about this because I do not want to do another exhaust switch! haha! By the way I'm going with the Magnaflow Chrome Rectangle Tips for that matter.
