Lets put it this way. You won't LOSE any horsepower. You will gain a couple. You will move your power band to a higher RPM. In result, you might FEEL that you lost some HP in the lower RPM (during take off) but actually it's there. By using 3" exhaust, you just moved it up. You should do it and see if you like it. Many owners like 3" exhaust while others like 2.5". Me personally wouldn't put 3" on a v6 unless you're going to get some big HP from either nitrous or s/c. But again this is MY opinion. Feel free try new ideas out. If Sir Issac Newton didn't try his uniques ideas, we wouldn't have many inventions that we have now ;).
is it possible to make a V6 sound throaty like a V8? like...would catback, headers, no cat, cam and s/c do the job? im hoping to get a deep sound when im done...these are some, not all, of my intended mods. catback is already done (2.5" magnaflow). i like the sound, but its not quite there yet...

you do realize that by the time you're done spending all the money for full bolt-on's, cam, s/c AND the additional funds to get it all running right, you could have bought a V8?
So, you are in 14s with your 3" exhaust. Wow, Chad! That's huge. I will get u a cookie! I don't give a sh*t what people want to put on their car. He** you can put a 4" exhaust and I could care less. New guy was curious and I tried to give him an idea.
Don't u get enough love over there at full throttle?

well, putting on an aftermarket exhaust is going to make it sound ricey no matter what
No.....not all exhausts make our car sound ricey. Plus, if you really want that V8 sound, then you need a V8. The reason a V8 sound the way it is is the firing order, and we lack the other 2 pistons to use the same firing order. I've got a custom 3" exhaust on my car, and it was a huge improvement in sound over my Magnaflow, plus I gained abit more. Then added headers and I started drooling :D
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
