  • Summit turbo muffler

    So I replaced my flowmaster 40 series with a Summit turbo muffler, 3" in 3" out, No cat, 18" resonator and RK Sport Headers all 3" piping. The Summit muffler still has a nice deep sound at idle and alot less interior noise. Flows about the same as the flowmaster as far as I could tell, my wideband shows the same air/fuel as the flowmaster did , but the flowmaster was 3" in and 2 2 1/2" out. Zero rasp throughout the rpms( I mean it is mellow), still sounds good though. I think there is a sound clip of someone else doing it on Fullthrottle.com. I like it alot more now because I can drive 85mph and talk on the phone if need be, before I couldn't too much noise. The price from summit I think $22.00. Thats what I liked.

    I'll have to look into that. My car is very loud right now. I dont like to brag, but it's probably the loudest car in my city. That flowmaster 40 does absolutely nothing. Do you know if they make 'em with dual outs? I would love to keep my dual setup.

      I don't think they do but you can check at Summit. I like to keep my tail pipes underneath my car since I think it looks better on a Camaro. But It's a personal choice.

        Thanks, I'll check out summit.

        I'd have to agree on the camaro and hiding the tips. But on the bird it looks nice with tips showing. The bumper is meant for it.

          Re: Summit turbo muffler

          go with dynomax super turbo if you really want 3" all the way. summit's 3" inlet turbo mufflers have 2.5" core.

            Thats the muffler I'm getting, I've heard nothing but good things about the sound, performance, and value.

                try the slp loudmouth, i only have one on my car and its very loud, but you can add resonators to it to quieten it down alot, its still loud out side my car after i put them on my car, but inside the car you can barely hear it...unfortuantly i hear my rear end now =[ which is my next project

                  loudmouth = rasp on a v6.

                      I'm assuming it is,but is this the same muffler that comes with the Dynomax super turbo cat back exhaust set up for $180? Just wanna know for sure before I clicky the buy button :) . Looks like a nice upgrade from my older raspy stocker setup.

                      Thanks.

                          Hate to sound stupid but I did try searching before posting and tried searching again but I havent found anything on this specific cat back exhaust setup for my 89' 2.8 Fbird ... Still,would this be a decent sounding muffler&upgrade?

                          Thanks.
