And some of them can hurt the engine itself too.

Just burns through the o2 sensor i think. but it might be a diffrent sensor. my buddy has one on a truck, he says he is always replacing the sensor when he uses his flamethrower alot

            Re: Flamethrowers

Ive seen it on some older classic cars that are show cars only which is fine. However for a DD its highly illegal and as said it can hurt somebody not meaning too.

I have them on my 80 malibu but would never put it on my DD

It was easy to do but you have to be carefull not to use it too much. After the install you will want to play with it alot and eventually burn the garbage setting next to your dad's garage :)

If legality was an issue, everyone on this site would have mechanically stock cars. Flamethrowers are no more illegal than all aftermarket exhausts, considering most states have legislature that state very plainly that anything that makes a car louder than when it left the factory is illegal...also, some states require parts such as intakes to have DOT-Approved stickers.

Are Flamethrowers more illegal than other aftermarket parts? No
Are cops more likely to enforce the law w/ flamethrowers as opposed to a not-stock muffler? Yes
Is there a big difference between the first question and the second? Yes

                  Re: Flamethrowers

I think flamethrowers are more illegal than aftermarket parts. Also I find it very hard to believe that a cop is more likely to pull you over for aftermarket mufflers more than they would if you were shooting out flames in public.

No, you'll get an improper equipment citation...same as if you had a loud exhaust.

                      When did I say that?

I don't care about the legality or safety of it, I just want to know if it will ruin my car.
