  • Help me choose...

I am debating on which intake system to buy, I can't decide, so I need your guy's help...

There are obvious advantages to the Volant system (the second one), but the problem with it is that it isn't made for V6, it is made for the LS1, which doesn't have the angled throttle body, so customizations/fabrications would be needed to make it fit. I plan on camming and powerdyne supercharging my car if that makes any difference. Thanks guys.

I like the volant better but it all depends on how much work you want to put into an intake.

Does the volant actually seal up to the hood? I have an OEM WS6 hood, so i guess thats a big factor. Would it be easy to find some tubing that isnt ribbed and would be flexible to fit?

if his SN gives any clues, his car does not have an angled TB. What he probably meant in the original post is that the V6 intake is offset to the right, where as LS1 intakes are dead-center.

Yeah my bad... sorry I didn't mean angled. I meant it is offset from the center. Thanks Smoke Panther. But yeah back to the original question haha. Give me some reasons please

IMO Dont waste $300 on any of those...

K&N Filter, !resonator thing and smooth air box, and then the SLP cold air induction would be alot better than both those setups and cost less than half

I had the K&N Drop in filter with a smooth lid on my 2000 Firebird. A couple months ago I was lucky enough to smear a coyote across the highway and was forced upgrade to a GM Ram Air Hood, at wich time I also upgraded to the K&N CAI that you listed. I love it. I can't say that I noticed a ton of HP gain, but I did notice a little. The main thing was the sound. It sounds a lot deeper and more open, wich has to be good. I want to say that it might have a little quicker response time, but again that might just be because it sounds so much meaner.

The intake on the 97 is angled, where as the newer ones are streight.

so the above kits wouldnt fit good without some hacking and fabing? has anyone found a nice ram air hood/filter combo?
