im doing 2.5" piping.. an x pipe. and 2 dynomax bullet mufflers.
its also going to drop down before the axle most likely.. the price to put 2 pipes over the axle is probably giong to be outrageous so yea.... does any1 think this will hurt my torque due to backpressure?
Dual 2.5" tubing has an area a little more than that of a 3.5" single system.
Dual 2.25" tubing area is a little more that a 3" single.
Seems like dual 2.5" would be overkill.
2.5 isnt really over kill if you have normal mufflers like flowmaster 40's(but there is no room for them under our cars) and Hi-flow cats but to blip55 if your going to dump it before the axle I would only go 2.25 max. Have you thought of using cats I only say that because its going to be really really free flowing(rasp) and you'll have codes. I have a h-pipe on my true duals because they normaly sound alot better than X-pipes and us 6ers need all the help we can get. also its going to be loud aswell but the thing is were the loudness is coming from, under the car and not the rear so it might start geting to you. Look on Ls1tech hey have tons of people that dump before the axle and you could get an idea of pipe placment. My td's also go all the way to the rear (over the axle) all in all it cost 900 something but yours will be much cheaper. good luck to ya!
an X pipe flows a little better than an H, but the difference is minimal. the H has a deeper sound than an X, which is why you should go that route. my brother an i both have 99 cobras, mine w/ X pipe and straight through mufflers and his w/ H pipe and chambered mufflers. his car has a much deeper tone than mine does. neither of us are running cats.
you can also get carsound (magnaflow) high flow cats for $65 shipped on ebay. i'm thinking about getting them for my car to quiet it down some.
