  • LOL found out my old "ticking exhaust leak problem from my EGR"

So for a long time, I'd say a couple years I had a slight ticking exhaust leak under the hood at the EGR, racked my brain trying to figure it out.

LOL, so today as I was pulling the head, I go to undo the exhaust manifold bolt right under the EGR, the heatshield just bends...

Top fo the bolt was snapped off, but the nut, that attached the heatshield was still there, I pull the manifold and the gasket was obviously blown...

LOL go figure, car had broken bolt and exhaust manifold leak, DIRECTLY under the EGR.(not even sure how this happened, never touched anything in this area)

oh well... Least found the source.

I planned on a new bolt, and new gasket... but not too worried. Probably selling it to carmax if I can make it seem presentable.

I am sure I will get screwed...

If its that bad, and me doing the ghetto fix doesn't work guess I will be parting it out and not putting a motor into it.

off hand what year was your car and when did you do this?

It woudl be awesome if I could get a ballpark figure... I know may be lower, I like to plan for worst.

2000 Camaro do 83,000 just in case they round up.
                    Navy Blue Metallic
                    N (its a 5-speed)
                    Y
Y(not sure what you mean, no ground effects but all f-bodies have an airdam)
                    Y
                    N
                    N
                    Y
                    Y
                    Y(fog lights)
                    N

                    N
                    N
                    Y
N(limited slip, not factory installed car, may or may not have it when sold to them)
                    Y
                    Y
                    Y

okay it says its worth 3600.. they will probably low ball you at 3-3.6
and condition as good, no major defects, no reconditioning needed. good paint good interior.

i put no on limited slip.. if its not on the rpo code it doesnt count..

uhhh... if u have a spare open diff laying around.. if not screw it, cuz the money for all that wont be worth it.

the rear is whining... I am going to see if I can slap a v6 rear in for cheap.

If not, I have a nice 3.42, rear with zexel torsion and brakes in the garage. I am just hoping to get a whatever v6 rear and sell the one in my garage
